My name is Maggie, and I’m from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. At four years old, I was diagnosed with cancer. Although it was one of the hardest experiences of my life, it taught me that life is precious and that hope can carry us through even the darkest times. Growing up, my faith, education, and life experiences taught me the importance of perseverance, gratitude, and making meaningful memories.
Brandon was raised with assistance from his grandfather because his parents divorced when he was young. He has always hoped to continue his family’s legacy of a good work ethic and perseverance. He worked multiple jobs to put himself through college and proudly served nine years in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. His dedication and resilience continue to inspire me every day.
We met in graduate school, became friends first, and eventually fell in love. After getting married and buying our home, we dreamed of starting a family. That journey proved much more difficult than we expected. After multiple fertility diagnoses, failed IUIs, and preparing for IVF, I experienced unexpected health challenges that resulted in losing my job. Despite those setbacks, we received a generous fertility grant that allowed us to continue pursuing our dream.
In January 2025, we became pregnant with our daughter, Elizabeth Ann. Sadly, just weeks later, we learned she no longer had a heartbeat. Losing Elizabeth was the greatest heartbreak we have ever known, but we continue to believe she watches over our family. Around what would have been her due date, I received a wonderful new job that brought renewed purpose and hope during our grief.
Several months later, despite being told our chances of conceiving naturally were very small, we were blessed with another miracle. We are now joyfully expecting our rainbow baby, a little girl named Bridget Elizabeth. Bridget means strength and power, and her middle name honors the sister who will always be part of our family.
Our journey has been filled with unexpected twists, heartbreaking loss, incredible blessings, and unwavering hope. We will always be grateful for the love, prayers, and support that carried us through every chapter of our story.
