In April 2012 we heard the most wonderful news that we were going to have a baby sadly 3 months later we heard the words there is no heartbeat. On July 28 2012 Matthew came silently into the world at 21weeks.

October of the same year we started Matties Memory, we wanted to give back to the hospital where Matthew was born. Soon word spread about us donating memory bags and then burial gowns and miscarriage packs and more hospitals reached out. All the while we kept trying to have our rainbow baby. Sadly with early miscarriages as well our rainbow baby didn’t come into the world.

October 15 2023 at the wave of light event as I looked at the Hoan bridge in Milwaukee which we had turned pink and blue one of my friends said look how pretty it looks it looks like a pink and blue rainbow and it then occurred to me, we had our rainbow.. Our rainbow was the people we had helped, the babies I had helped deliver as a doula, the burial gowns we had donated the families who were with us at the event as we read the names of our children. My son’s death brought a new life in my nonprofit and that is my rainbow because out of his death there came something amazing Matties Memory, my son’s legacy my rainbow…
